TEA @ NC State

Student Organization @ NC State

President: April 2024 - Current

As president of the TEA @ NC State was instrumental in the revamp of this student organization. In Spring 2024, the club, originally called the Theme Park Club, had been shut down due to low attendance. To breathe new life into the group and better connect students with the Themed Entertainment Industry, I took the initiative to revamp the club. Under my leadership, we formed a partnership with the Themed Entertainment Association. With a clearer vision for the club and the help of two other officers, we worked together to create a space that not only welcomes those who love themed entertainment but also provides opportunities for students aspiring to work in the industry.

Planning for Fall 2024

Our first semester saw us working to restore the club to better support the students in becoming connected to the Themed Entertainment Industry. A business plan was put together to best represent our vision and goals were for the club, while other documents were prepared that included brainstorming, a marketing plan, a meeting plan, etc. A budget was also comprised to reflect the needs of the club for the fall semester to support any events and trips that were taking place.

Fall 2024 Events

Our first event for the first semester included a series that was based of the Imagineering in a Box. It was designed to give students a look into the creative side of the industry and have a better understanding of the processes that go into designing a themed land, but also it gave a chance for students to see if this was something that interested them. I led the whole series and delivered the presentations.

Our other semester long series that took place was a Industry Professional Presentation series where 5 professionals from across different companies and fields within the industry talked to students about their career path, projects they have worked on, and answered questions students may have had.

Our last major event of this trip saw the club take it's first trip to the IAAPA EXPO. We had 3 students, including myself, attend the week long expo. I lead the planning for this trip, creating the budget, schedule, and finalizing the details. It was a successful trip for the students being able to connect with young professionals and industry professionals, walk the show floor to see all the many different companies on display and learn about them and experience the Themed Entertainment that Orlando had.

Spring 2025 Events

Our meetings this semester comprised of two Industry Professional Presentations, fun movie nights and trivia nights, while also attending a musical being put on at a theater on campus.

A new event we started this semester is a design project that is being done in-house that is meant to be a time for those who are interested in working in the industry a chance to try and solve a problem within the Themed Entertainment Industry.

Our trip this semester consisted of attending Busch Gardens Williamsburg on March 29. Our day included enjoying the thrills and entertainment of the park, while also getting to meet with the VP of entertainment and hear a little bit about the work that the entertainment department takes on at Busch Gardens. We were able to minimize costs through connections which led us to be able to bring 20 student in total on this trip.
